Amid a strong shift toward a greener and more digital economy, the 2026 Economic Census is being implemented to establish a comprehensive and reliable database to support policy-making for the 2026–2030 period. The census is one of the country’s three largest national statistical surveys, conducted every five years.

In urban areas such as Minh Xuan Ward, authorities have proactively reviewed and compiled business listings while intensifying communications efforts to build public consensus. From the early days of the campaign, many household businesses have actively cooperated in providing information. Business owners noted that completing declarations is not only a legal obligation but also an opportunity to reassess their operational capacity and performance, thereby enabling more targeted access to support policies.

The census atmosphere has also extended to mountainous and rural communes. Despite operating on a small scale, local shop owners have carefully prepared records and verified figures to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the data provided.

A key highlight of the 2026 Economic Census is the comprehensive application of digital technology throughout the process. Enumerators are equipped with smart devices installed with specialized software, replacing traditional paper questionnaires. The system automatically checks data consistency upon entry, promptly detecting discrepancies for verification with business owners. This approach enhances accuracy and significantly reduces processing time.

According to the provincial Statistics Office, more than 51,600 household business establishments fall within the scope of the census - an area characterized by high fluctuations yet playing a vital role in the local economy. Thanks to thorough preparations in digital infrastructure and human resources, implementation progress has been kept on schedule.

The results of the census will provide a legally validated and reliable data foundation to support the rebasing and updating of GDP and GRDP calculations, as well as evidence-based policymaking for socio-economic development. Establishing an integrated and transparent digital database will enable authorities at all levels to make timely and accurate decisions, optimize resource allocation, and promote a sustainable growth model in the new development phase.
