Top leader To Lam and his spouse begin state visit to China

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee and President To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, together with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport, commencing a state visit to China from April 14 to 17.

General Secretary and President To Lam, his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport at approximately 9:20 am (local time) on April 14, beginning their four-day state visit to China at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping and his spouse.

Welcoming the Vietnamese leaders at the airport on the Chinese side were Yin Li, Politburo Member and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee; Liu Haixing, Member of the CPC Central Committee and Head of its International Department; He Wei, Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam and his spouse; and Chen Zhou, Deputy Head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

On the Vietnamese side were Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh and his spouse; Consul General in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung and his spouse; Consul General in Nanning Nguyen Thi Huong; Consul General in Kunming Nghiem Viet Chung; Consul General in Shanghai Tran Huy Hung; staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in China; as well as representatives of the Vietnamese community and students in China.

Secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee Yin Li welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse at the airport. General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly received bouquets of flowers from children and shook hands with Chinese officials and Vietnamese representatives.

In a joyful atmosphere, General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse waved to Chinese dancers, as well as members of the Vietnamese community and students studying in China.

The visit is a highly significant occasion to elevate strategic connectivity and set a new level for relations between the two Parties and the two countries. The top leaders of both sides are expected to define new directions and breakthroughs in cooperation across key areas, including economic and trade ties, investment, tourism, supply chains, production chains, education and training, and science and technology, with a view to realising each country’s development goals and aspirations.
