Tuyen Quang strengthens comprehensive cooperation with Yunnan Province (China)
On the morning of October 30, in Lai Chau Province, the Joint Working Group between four Vietnamese border provinces of Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, and Dien Bien and China’s Yunnan Province held its 11th meeting to review the implementation of the 10th meeting minutes and sign a new cooperation agreement for the coming period.

The meeting was attended by leaders of the People’s Committees of the participating provinces. The Tuyen Quang delegation was led by Comrade Hoang Gia Long, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, along with representatives from departments and sectors.
Since the 10th meeting, cooperation between Vietnam’s border provinces and Yunnan has continued to expand comprehensively. The two sides have exchanged nearly 500 working delegations, coordinated effectively in border management, and promoted trade, investment, and tourism. In 2024, import-export turnover between the provinces and Yunnan reached 7.2 billion USD.

Particularly, cooperation between Tuyen Quang (including the former Ha Giang area) and Yunnan has deepened, with 53 delegations and 767 representatives exchanged, and 10 new cooperation agreements signed. Both sides have maintained close coordination in border management, verified and issued passports for over 1,400 Vietnamese citizens living in Yunnan. Import-export turnover reached 797 million USD in the first nine months of 2025, an increase of nearly 88% year-on-year. Over 18,000 Tuyen Quang workers are currently employed in Wenshan Prefecture with stable incomes.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman Hoang Gia Long emphasized that cooperation between the two sides has developed stably, comprehensively, and substantively, contributing to strengthening traditional friendship, enhancing political trust, boosting socio-economic development, and ensuring national defense and border security.
