On September 10, a delegation from the Xiengkhouang Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, led by Deputy Director Souphanh Kalachak, paid a courtesy visit to the Tuyen Quang Department of Foreign Affairs following the recent provincial merger.

During the meeting, leaders of the two departments exchanged information on foreign affairs activities and personnel matters. The Tuyen Quang side briefed the delegation on the merger of Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang provinces into the new Tuyen Quang Province. The province now covers an area of more than 13,000 square kilometers, with a population of over 1.8 million people. It has 124 commune-level administrative units, an international border gate at Thanh Thuy, and a more than 270-kilometer border with China. Tuyen Quang affirmed its commitment to inheriting and strengthening its traditional friendship with Xiengkhouang Province in the coming time.

Deputy Director Souphanh Kalachak expressed gratitude for the warm sentiments and valuable support extended by the leaders and people of Tuyen Quang. He highlighted that the current program sending Xiengkhouang students to study at Tuyen Quang Vocational and Industrial College serves as a testament to the close and enduring brotherhood between the two provinces. Both sides agreed to report to their provincial leaders on the key outcomes of the meeting in Tuyen Quang.
