Yen Phu Buddha’s hand enters the Lunar New Year harvest season

In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse 2026, the atmosphere of harvesting Buddha’s hand fruit at gardens in Yen Phu Commune has become bustling and urgent. Across the orchards, local farmers focus on harvesting, selecting, and grading Buddha’s hand fruits with attractive shapes and acceptable appearance to supply the market.

At the end of the year, Buddha’s hand orchards in Yen Phu Commune are heavy with fruit as they enter the main harvest season, signaling that the Lunar New Year is drawing near.

A lively and industrious working atmosphere blankets the Buddha’s hand gardens of Yen Phu Commune during the days leading up to the holiday.

Buddha’s hand fruits with beautiful shapes, long and evenly spread “fingers” are criteria especially favored by the Lunar New Year market.

Buddha’s hand is currently a key crop, bringing clear economic benefits to local residents of Yen Phu Commune, with a total cultivation area of over 50 hectares. The crop is mainly grown in Thong Nhat Hamlet 4 and Hamlets 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 of Yen Phu. Each fruit-laden tree is the result of days of diligent care, from soil preparation and canopy shaping to pruning and maintaining the fruit’s form so that the fingers spread evenly and look visually appealing.

Local people in Phu Commune carefully select high-quality Buddha’s hand fruits, wrap them in paper, and package them to meet the demand for display and worship during the Lunar New Year, with an average price of around VND 40,000 per kilogram.

After harvest, Buddha’s hand fruits are sorted, neatly arranged, and prepared for distribution to the Lunar New Year market.

The family of Mr. Tran Ngoc Thach from Minh Phu Hamlet 1 owns more than 300 Buddha’s hand trees. From the beginning of the year to date, his family has earned approximately VND 400 million from this crop.

Rows of Buddha’s hand orchards stretching across the area not only create the distinctive landscape of Yen Phu but also generate an estimated economic value of more than VND 5 billion annually. As a result, many households have secured stable incomes, gradually improved their living standards, and boldly invested in expanding production and applying advanced techniques to crop care.

Many households in Yen Phu Commune are delighted as Buddha’s hand enjoys both a good harvest and good prices in this year’s Lunar New Year season.

The cultivation of Buddha’s hand has become an effective economic development direction, contributing to increased incomes and improved living conditions for the people of Yen Phu Commune.
