White trumpet lily season

As March gradually draws to a close, making way for the April sunshine, the flower fields in Ly Nhan Village, Minh Xuan Ward begin to don a pure white coat. For the locals, tending to and cherishing each budding flower is not merely a livelihood, but also a way to express their emotions and preserve the cultural beauty of loving and appreciating flowers.

White trumpet lilies bloom only once a year, with the harvest season typically falling between late March and early April.

In recent days, growers have begun harvesting the first batch of the season.

According to Pham Thi Phuong, whose family has cultivated white trumpet lilies for the past 10 years, the current price ranges from VND3,500 to VND4,000 per bud.

Although prices are relatively good, growers are only hoping to recover their investment, as unfavorable weather has led to lower yields compared to last year.

Since white trumpet lilies bloom only once a year, both sellers and flower enthusiasts must make the most of the short season. After being cut, the flowers can last for about two weeks.

Farmers have applied techniques such as keeping lights on throughout the night to “awaken” the flowers and regulate their blooming time to coincide with late March and early April.

The flowers grow on sturdy stems, each typically bearing one to three blossoms.

With their pristine white color and gentle fragrance, these flowers are widely loved by many.
