During the 2020–2025 period, the province issued numerous resolutions and programs to unlock the potential of its forest resources. As a result, the forestry economy has maintained stable growth, with forest coverage reaching 62.2 percent, ranking third nationwide. Each year, more than 15,000 hectares of new forests are planted, over 1.3 million cubic meters of timber are harvested, and forestry production value grows by an average of more than 9 percent annually. Forestry plays a vital role not only in environmental protection but also in providing sustainable income for local people, serving as a key driver for the development of the wood-processing industry.

Alongside expanding forest areas, the province has focused on improving forest quality through the use of better seed varieties, large-timber forest development, and investment in high-tech nurseries. Currently, Tuyen Quang has around 81,000 hectares of large-timber forests, ensuring a stable supply of raw materials for processing facilities. Forest management in line with international standards has also been strengthened, with more than 89,000 hectares certified for sustainable forest management, including 84,654 hectares meeting FSC/PEFC standards - among the largest certified areas in the country.

With its position as a “forest stronghold,” Tuyen Quang has attracted many large-scale wood-processing enterprises. The province now has more than 500 processing facilities, including eight companies with annual capacities ranging from 20,000 to 130,000 cubic meters. Products such as furniture, plywood, and wood pellets have been exported to demanding markets including the United States, Japan, and the European Union. FSC-certified forest areas have become a “green passport,” helping Tuyen Quang’s wood products enhance their value and access international markets, as well as participate in the carbon credit market.

In addition to wood processing, the paper industry is another highlight, notably An Hoa Paper Joint Stock Company, which operates Vietnam’s largest pulp and paper mill. With raw materials sourced mainly within the province, the company contributes to building a closed, sustainable production chain.

From 2026 onward, Tuyen Quang aims to maintain forest coverage at 62.2 percent, expand FSC-certified forest area to 100,000 hectares, increase productivity and value of planted forests, and develop a high-tech forestry zone. With strong potential, firm determination, and a clear strategic direction, Tuyen Quang’s forestry sector stands poised for a breakthrough, emerging as a national bright spot in modern and sustainable forestry development.
