In recent years, Yen Son Commune in Tuyen Quang Province has stepped up efforts to expand employment opportunities, raise incomes and improve living standards for local people. A key focus has been the application of digital technology in job counseling, labor-market connectivity and employment placement, an approach that has delivered tangible results while contributing to sustainable poverty reduction and new rural development.

Following administrative consolidation and the operation of the two-tier local government, Yen Son Commune now covers nearly 118 square kilometers, with more than 31,500 residents across 57 villages. The labor force accounts for around 64 percent of the population, and over 76 percent of workers have received vocational training. However, livelihoods still largely depend on agriculture and forestry, making income stability and sustainable employment an ongoing challenge.

To address this, the Yen Son Commune People’s Committee has implemented a range of synchronized measures. Priority has been given to creating jobs locally through support for crop restructuring, the development of cooperatives, and the expansion of production, business and service establishments. At the same time, the commune has strengthened employment linkages beyond the locality, particularly with industrial parks and clusters inside and outside the province.

A highlight of Yen Son’s employment strategy is the strong promotion of digital solutions. Labor-market information, recruitment needs and employment policies are regularly updated on the commune’s website, fanpages and social media platforms, enabling workers to access information more easily. Job counseling and recruitment activities are no longer confined to traditional job centers but are also conducted online through video interviews and QR-code applications, helping to reduce time and costs for both job seekers and employers.

Notably, the 2025 Job Fair organized by the commune attracted nearly 1,000 participants, including workers, students and young people. Fifteen enterprises, vocational training institutions and labor-export agencies directly provided counseling and recruitment for positions in wood processing, garment and footwear manufacturing, construction, vocational training, overseas study and labor export.

Thanks to proactive communication and effective job-matching support, Yen Son created 1,246 new jobs in 2025, exceeding the annual plan by more than 221 percent. The rate of trained workers rose to 81.5 percent, while the multidimensional poverty rate fell to 3.79 percent. Average income surpassed VND 50 million per person per year.

Moving forward, Yen Son Commune will continue expanding online job-matching channels, strengthening partnerships with businesses and vocational training institutions, and gradually improving workforce quality to meet the demands of socio-economic development in the new period.
