Pao’s House
Amidst the vast grey rocks of the Dong Van Karst Plateau, “Pao’s House” in Lung Cam Tren Hamlet, Sa Phin Commune rests peacefully in a valley, like a unique cultural piece in the mosaic of H’Mong heritage in Vietnam’s northernmost region.

Built more than a century ago, the house reflects the traditional architecture of the H’Mong: earthen walls, yin-yang tiled roofs, and a moss-covered dark wooden gate.
The name “Pao’s House” is associated with the acclaimed film The Story of Pao, a multi-award-winning Vietnamese movie filmed largely at this location. Since then, the house has become a must-visit landmark for travelers to the Dong Van Karst Plateau.
Here, visitors can not only admire its ancient architecture but also gain a deeper sense of H’Mong customs and way of life along the border highlands. The sound of the khen, children’s laughter, and breezes carrying the scent of the mountains bring the atmosphere of the old film vividly back to life.
In recent years, local authorities and residents have worked together to preserve the authenticity of Pao’s House. Today, it retains its rustic, pristine beauty - an enduring symbol of H’Mong culture and a place where visitors can pause and reflect amid the majestic landscape of Tuyen Quang.
