On September 9, the delegation attended the opening session of the Global Geoparks Fair and welcomed representatives of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network Executive Board visiting the booth of the UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau.
That same day, the delegation also held bilateral discussions with partner geoparks that have cooperation agreements with the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark. Specifically, these included the Akiyoshidai UNESCO Global Geopark (Japan) and the Mudeungshan Geopark (Republic of Korea). The partners highly appreciated the cooperation activities carried out during 2024–2025, such as online community education exchanges between students from both regions, mutual tourism promotion initiatives, and scientific research collaboration.
Notably, the Akiyoshidai UNESCO Global Geopark organized an International Lantern Festival featuring a lantern booth representing Vietnam and the Dong Van Karst Plateau. Mudeungshan Geopark hosted a Geopark Marathon that included a booth from the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark, while Dong Van organized an international partnership corner at its visitor information centers.
Vice Chairman Vuong Ngoc Ha stated that both Ha Giang Province previously, and now Tuyen Quang Province, place strong emphasis on international cooperation in the fields of culture, scientific research, and especially in promoting tourism collaboration with Northeast Asian countries. He also highlighted the achievements of the geopark partnerships as a foundation for expanding cooperation between local governments.
During a working session with two European geoparks - the Haute Provence UNESCO Global Geopark (France) and the Lesvos UNESCO Global Geopark (Greece) - the partners proposed that the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark arrange a visit and implement the cooperation agreement that had been reached earlier, starting in 2026.
