Nam Dam Village (Quan Ba Commune) has become a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists in recent years, as community-based tourism continues to flourish. With its pristine landscapes, simple rhythm of life, and rich Dao cultural identity, the village attracts many foreign visitors who come to cycle, take photos, learn to cook, weave brocade, and explore traditional customs.

Rustic earthen-wall houses, the soft blue smoke of late afternoon, and the cheerful voices of foreign guests paint a vibrant picture of community tourism.

The village has more than 60 households, all of them Dao. In the past, life was difficult, but over the past decade, as community-based tourism developed, Nam Dam has “awakened.”

Today, more than 30 households offer tourism services, with international visitors comprising the majority. Locals cook for guests, guide tours, and host homestays, creating sustainable livelihoods.

Local homestays also promote Dao culture through stories about the Cap Sac ceremony, traditional cuisine, and customs. International visitors are especially fond of herbal baths, gardening, cooking with host families, and joining traditional festivals.

From a small village nestled in a valley, Nam Dam has grown into a highlight of community-based tourism. It has been recognized as an ASEAN Typical Tourism Village, with several homestays meeting OCOP standards, contributing to the widespread promotion of Dao culture.
