Storm No. 10 and its aftermath brought severe flooding and landslides across Tuyen Quang province, destroying infrastructure and production areas and causing significant damage to the tourism sector. The cancellation of the Tuyen Citadel Festival, which had been carefully prepared, resulted in tens of thousands of tourists canceling their trips. Many hotels and restaurants had to refund customer deposits.

Nguyen Thu Hien, Director of Mai Son Hotel in Minh Xuan Ward, said that the heavy rains and floods forced the cancellation of many Mid-Autumn Festival activities. The hotel decided to refund all deposits to customers as a gesture of transparency and goodwill.

In the highland commune of Hong Thai, the Golden Season Festival was also canceled. Ban Thi Thuong, owner of Mac Cop Homestay, shared that people had spent a month preparing to welcome guests, as this is Hong Thai’s peak tourism season. However, the storm disrupted plans, forcing restaurants and homestays to sell perishable goods at reduced prices to recover part of their losses.

Nguyen Dinh Tam, Vice Chairman of the Tuyen Quang Tourism Association, reported that many members suffered serious damage. For instance, a flower and plant farm in Son Duong lost about VND720 million; the Fisheries and Tourism Cooperative of Lang Chai in Na Hang suffered losses of around VND1.7 billion due to damaged fish cages; and Ha Giang Tre Tourism and Trading Company in Ha Giang Ward 1 reported lodging facility losses of approximately VND350 million.

According to the Tourism Management Division under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, several hotels and restaurants in Ha Giang Wards 1 and 2, including Com Viet Nam 123 Restaurant, Phoenix Hotel, and Yen Bien Luxury Hotel, also sustained damage. However, once the floodwaters receded, most establishments quickly recovered and resumed operations. Some unaffected accommodations even offered free lodging to stranded travelers.

Despite the heavy losses, many international visitors stayed to help locals clean up after the floods, leaving behind touching memories of a kind and hospitable land. With the joint efforts of authorities, businesses, and the community, Tuyen Quang’s tourism industry is gradually recovering, once again showcasing the beauty and cultural identity of its people to visitors.
