Viet Nam trounce Maldives 7-0 in AFC Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers
Viet Nam opened their 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers with a landslide 7-0 victory over the Maldives at Viet Tri stadium in Phu Tho province on June 29 night.

The hosts took early control of the match, and ending the first half with a commanding 6-0 lead. The final goal came midway through the second half, sealing a comprehensive win for Viet Nam.
This marks Viet Nam’s fourth consecutive win over the Maldives without conceding a goal, highlighting the gap in quality between the two sides.
Head coach Mai Duc Chung reaffirmed Viet Nam’s aim to top Group E, which also includes the UAE and Guam. He noted that while all opponents are respected, Viet Nam will maintain focused and determined in every match.
Viet Nam is set to face the UAE at 7pm on July 2, also at the Viet Tri stadium.
