The tournament will be organised by the Ministry of Public Security, with the Department of Political Affairs serving as the lead agency, in coordination with relevant units both within and outside the ministry. A total of eight teams will participate, including five from ASEAN countries (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Timor-Leste), one guest team from Australia, and two host teams (Viet Nam People's Public Security Team I and Team II).
Speaking at the press conference, Colonel Pham Kim Dinh, Director General of the Department of Political Affairs under the Ministry of Public Security, stated that the tournament is an international sporting event with significant political and diplomatic importance. It will be held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Viet Nam People's Public Security Forces, aiming to promote physical fitness, team spirit, and morale among officers and soldiers as well as to enhance the image and reputation of a disciplined, elite, and modern Viet Nam People’s Public Security Force.
“In addition, the event aims to strengthen cooperation, solidarity, friendship, and mutual understanding among the police and security forces of ASEAN countries and partner nations, thereby contributing positively to the cause of peace and stability in the region. It also helps promote tourism, the rich and distinctive culture, and the peaceful, friendly, and hospitable image of Viet Nam to international friends,” Colonel Pham Kim Dinh emphasised.
The opening ceremony will be held solemnly at Hang Day Stadium on the evening of July 9, with the attendance of government leaders, representatives from central and local ministries and agencies, and ambassadors of the participating countries. The final match and closing ceremony are scheduled for July 15.
In addition to the matches, the organising committee will also host sideline activities such as cultural exchanges, sightseeing tours of Quang Ninh’s scenic spots, and a gala dinner for the delegates. Matches will be broadcast live on FPT Television’s sports channel and are expected to be simulcast on various other TV networks.
The prize structure includes: 30,000 USD for the champion, 15,000 USD for the runner-up, and 10,000 USD each for the two teams sharing third place, along with individual and fair play awards.
