Focusing on immediately implementing key tasks after the Lunar New Year Holiday
Following the Lunar New Year Holiday 2026, government agencies, organizations, businesses and schools nationwide resumed normal operations on February 23. To ensure that the holiday break does not disrupt work progress, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat issued Official Dispatch No. 01-CV/TW, urging Party committees, authorities and relevant agencies to immediately implement key tasks for the first quarter.

Top priorities include continuing to develop and carry out action programs to implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress; enforcing newly issued resolutions of the Politburo; and preparing for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.
At a Government Standing Committee meeting on post-holiday tasks, the Prime Minister stressed the need to get to work from the very first day back. Ministries, sectors and localities were instructed to closely monitor domestic and global developments to ensure flexible, timely and effective governance, avoiding abrupt or inconsistent management. Authorities were also told to strengthen administrative discipline, tighten oversight of public finance and budgets, promote thrift and cut unnecessary spending, and accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital with a target of reaching 100 percent of the assigned plan.
In addition, the Government called for stronger state management of religious and festival activities, the organization of healthy cultural and artistic programs, the effective launch of the traditional tree-planting campaign, and the full and timely implementation of social welfare policies. Efforts are also being stepped up to fast-track the construction of 100 inter-level boarding schools in border areas, while preparing to break ground on the remaining 148 schools later this month.
As 2026 marks the first year of implementing the 14th National Party Congress Resolution and serves as a pivotal year in a new growth cycle, officials and workers are urged to uphold a spirit of urgency and responsibility from the outset to successfully achieve the year’s goals and tasks.
