Unity drives new rural development in Dong Tho

In the early days of 2026, Dong Tho Commune is clearly transforming, with rural infrastructure steadily taking shape. Newly paved concrete roads, well-equipped cultural houses, and pedestrian bridges spanning streams are not only the result of State investment but also a reflection of strong community consensus and the collective efforts of local people in building new rural areas.

During the 2020–2025 term, the commune’s Party Committee, authorities, and the Fatherland Front intensified communication and mobilization efforts, encouraging residents to donate land, contribute labor days, and provide financial support for essential infrastructure projects. Across the commune, more than 300 households donated over 16,000 square meters of land and dismantled auxiliary structures to widen roads. As a result, 33.235 kilometers of rural roads were concreted with a total investment of more than VND 19.2 billion. In addition, 46.5 kilometers of irrigation canals were reinforced with prefabricated concrete, five new rural bridges were built, seven village cultural houses were upgraded, seven village gates were constructed, and a memorial house honoring fallen heroes of the commune was completed.

According to Dong Tho Commune leaders, closely adhering to new rural development criteria and promoting the people’s role as active participants have been decisive factors in the commune’s achievements. Numerous meetings were held to gather public feedback, helping authorities identify genuine needs and build consensus, thereby encouraging households to participate in local movements actively.

The spirit of unity is evident in villages such as Lang Hao and Dong Ninh, where dozens of households voluntarily donated land to expand inter-village and internal roads. These upgraded routes, now five meters wide and concreted, have significantly improved connectivity, facilitated agricultural production, and enhanced daily mobility. Currently, nearly 75% of the commune’s main intra-field roads meet requirements for convenient goods transportation; 100% of villages have standard-compliant cultural houses; and the education universalization rate exceeds 90%.

Solidarity in Dong Tho is also strongly reflected in efforts to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing. From 2024 to the present, the commune has eliminated 72 substandard houses, including 57 newly built and 15 renovated homes, with a total funding amounting to tens of billions of dong. Of this, nearly VND 4 billion came from State support, while the remainder was mobilized from socialized resources and residents’ counterpart contributions, including thousands of labor days.

The collective strength born of unity between the Party, local authorities, and the people continues to serve as a “key” to Dong Tho’s steady development. From infrastructure construction to mutual support for disadvantaged households, each completed project bears the imprint of shared determination and social cohesion, helping Dong Tho move confidently toward the goal of advanced, prosperous, and civilized new rural development.
