Since 2021, Tuyen Quang has deployed a digital forest management system using the Forestry Management Information System (FRMS), GIS mapping, satellite imagery, flycams, and GPS devices. Each forest plot is assigned a specific coordinate on the digital map, enabling forest rangers to easily monitor and update forest status and quickly detect possible deforestation or landslide areas.

The Provincial Forest Protection Department has developed an early warning system for forest fire risks based on satellite imagery, installed automatic electronic fire danger boards, and established a mobile messaging alert network to inform relevant agencies. The province has now completed digital data for more than one million hectares of forest and forestry land, synchronized with the national forestry database.

According to Dao Duy Tuan, Head of the Provincial Forest Protection Department, digital forest management remains a long-term process requiring continued investment, particularly in telecommunications infrastructure in remote areas and technological training for forest owners. The province plans to establish an intelligent forest resource monitoring center applying artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze satellite images, identify changes, and connect forestry data to support legal timber exports and the forest-based economy.

These efforts not only help preserve the “green lungs” of the Northeast region but also promote comprehensive digital transformation in the agricultural sector, building a greener, more modern, and sustainable Tuyen Quang.
