Utmost urgency

This week, the Politburo and the Secretariat convened a national conference to disseminate and implement four key resolutions: on international integration in the new context; ensuring national energy security; breakthroughs in education and training; and measures to enhance the protection and care of public health.

Public attention has particularly focused on Resolution 72, which sets goals to extend healthy life expectancy, reduce patient expenses, digitalize the healthcare system, strengthen grassroots healthcare, improve service quality, and increase patient and citizen satisfaction. The Party has outlined the guiding principle: Prevention as the key – Grassroots as the foundation – People at the center. Citizens have expressed strong support, especially as the Party has directed concrete solutions such as developing grassroots healthcare and family doctor services, upgrading local health stations, rolling out basic service packages, ensuring connectivity among hospital levels, and building facilities to care for the elderly and those living alone.

These are critical social issues that affect everyone across all age groups. If not handled effectively, they could lead to many other challenges.

Public sentiment has been further encouraged by the Party’s directive to begin immediate implementation. The National Assembly will institutionalize the resolutions into law and incorporate their spirit into the agenda of the final session of the 15th legislature. The Party Central Committee has also required Party organizations at both central and local levels to integrate these resolutions into congress documents and action plans, in preparation for the 14th National Party Congress. The entire political system is expected to act swiftly in 2025 to complete the goals of the 13th Party Congress and lay solid groundwork for the new development stage.

With the guiding spirit of “utmost urgency,” implementation cannot be delayed. Only then will the new resolutions effectively complement the quartet of strategic resolutions, forming a unified breakthrough to realize the centennial goal: building a strong, prosperous, sustainable, and enduring Vietnam.
