Amidst modern life, social networks not only serve as an entertainment channel but also become an advertising tool for cultural promotion and community connection. In Tuyen Quang province, many young ethnic minority people have made use of TikTok to tell their village’s stories, showcasing local traditions and products widely.

One example is Nong Cam Quynh, a Nung ethnic woman from Binh Ca commune.  After graduating from the Academy of Journalism and Communication, she turned down stable job opportunities in Hanoi to return her hometown. She started up with many short videos about daily life, local cuisine, and unique customs such as palm sticky rice, wild bamboo shoots, green reishi mushroom, and fig jelly, etc. Her clips quickly attracted millions of views, contributing to promoting local specialties and opening up new changes for local people.

Similarly, Vang Thi De, a H’mong woman from Thai Phin Tung commune, runs the ‘Hmonghemp’ channel, where she documents the traditional hemp brocade weaving process. Her videos have helped revive interest in H’mong brocade, creating jobs and incomes for women in the commune.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Hoai Thuong, a Tay ethnic woman from Thanh Thuy commune impressed social network users with her charming content such as a green tea basket, a Shan Tuyet tea cup, rice in bamboo tubes, etc.  With over 400,000 followers and 12 million likes, her channel has become an important outlet for marketing agricultural products from upland areas.

Beyond promoting culture and products, some young creators are using social media to spread humanitarian values. Nguyen Tat Thang, a YouTuber and TikToker from Ha Giang 1 ward, has produced more than 3,500 videos in the past five years, gaining 610,000 subscribers worldwide. His content not only highlights Tuyen Quang’s landscapes and people but also mobilizes donations to build bridges, schools, and houses, as well as provide scholarships and disaster relief for disadvantaged communities.

The stories of these TikTokers show how the younger generation is seizing digital opportunities to preserve cultural heritage, promote local products, and spread positive values. Their creativity and commitment are helping to build a more connected, prosperous, and vibrant Tuyen Quang.
