Overcoming difficulties in constructing Provincial Road DT.178
Provincial Road DT.178 is a key transportation project connecting Quang Binh with communes in Xin Man area. The route plays an important role in boosting the socio-economic development of the western region of the province. Despite challenges from rugged terrain, heavy rainfall, and prolonged site clearance issues, the project is being accelerated thanks to the decisive direction of the investor and the efforts of contractors.

Taking advantage of favorable weather conditions, contractors are working at full capacity. The package from Km11 to Km26, implemented by Thong Nhat Co., Ltd., has basically completed asphalt surfacing and is currently installing guardrails and constructing Na Cho Bridge.
According to the plan, the package has achieved about 95% of the workload and is expected to be completed before December 2025. On the same route, An Dong Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company is responsible for building four major bridges of Na Chi, Nam He, Khau Lau, and Ban Ngo, mobilizing more than 40 workers and various machinery to maintain continuous construction and ensure progress.
The project “Upgrading and improving Yen Binh (Quang Binh Commune) – Coc Pai (Pa Vay Su Commune) Road, DT.178, Phase I from Km0 to Km27, and constructing Ban Ngo Bridge at Km60+600” is invested by the Department of Construction. The project has a total length of 18.84 km and total investment of over VND654 billion, including several items such as upgrading road foundations and building 10 new reinforced concrete bridges. To date, over 99% of the roadbed has been completed, and 84% of the asphalt paving has been done. Some bridges such as Na Pio, Nam Trang, and Na Dat have been technically opened to traffic.
The biggest challenges remain site clearance delays, some households have not yet handed over their land, along with frequent heavy rains causing landslides, and a shortage of construction materials. In response, the Department of Construction has implemented flexible solutions, such as design adjustments, additional manpower and equipment, and close coordination between contractors, supervisors, and local authorities to promptly resolve difficulties, ensuring both construction quality and safety.
