Amid constant economic transformation, the province has identified industry as one of the key pillars driving growth, enhancing competitiveness, and creating jobs. In recent years, the province’s industrial landscape has increasingly reflected a green development orientation, associated with the circular economy and environmentally friendly practices.

In recent times, the Department of Industry and Trade has made efforts to drive positive change in industrial development, particularly in the processing, manufacturing, and energy sectors. The consistent guiding principle is that industrial development should not only pursue rapid growth but also green growth, ensuring harmony among economic, environmental, and social factors.

Across industrial parks and clusters in the province, the presence of deep-processing plants has become increasingly evident. During the 2020–2025 period, the province’s processing and manufacturing industry developed steadily and in line with orientation, focusing on sectors with advantages such as wood processing, tea processing, food processing, and metal processing. Deep-processing plants now contribute more than 60 percent of the province’s total industrial production value, while gradually integrating more deeply into production and consumption value chains.

The province has attracted several large-scale projects in forest product processing - a spearhead economic sector linked to its forestry advantages. Notable examples include the Erex Sakura biomass fuel plant with a total investment of over VND 478 billion, and the wood processing plant in Yen Son District invested by Thanh Vinh Tuyen Quang Investment Joint Stock Company with capital exceeding VND 408 billion, along with various plywood, paper, and wood pellet production projects in industrial parks and clusters. Beyond significant budget contributions, these projects have created stable employment opportunities and contributed to labor restructuring toward industrialization.

Alongside processing industries, the energy sector continues to affirm its important role in the province’s overall development. Tuyen Quang has put into operation 14 hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 223.7 MW, bringing the total number of operating hydropower plants to 52, generating over 4.8 billion kWh annually. This power output not only contributes to national energy security but also provides stable jobs and supports local social welfare activities.

Many hydropower plants have also participated in building rural roads, schools, and public welfare facilities, strengthening ties between businesses and local communities. Notably, hydropower reservoirs such as Tuyen Quang, Chiem Hoa, and Nho Que have become attractive tourism destinations, drawing tens of thousands of visitors each year, while also creating favorable conditions for aquaculture development and new livelihoods for residents in reservoir areas.

Despite positive results, the province’s industrial sector has acknowledged existing limitations, including a low proportion of deep processing, limited participation of large projects in value chains, and constraints in attracting renewable energy investments. In response, the province is prioritizing policy improvements, promoting deep-processing industries, renewable energy, and high-tech industries, while investing in ecological and smart industrial infrastructure.

With strong political determination and the active participation of businesses and local people, Tuyen Quang’s industrial sector is expected to continue making breakthroughs, serving as a key driver of green growth, circular economy development, and sustainable progress in the new period.
