In the early days of 2026, a dynamic working atmosphere can be seen across the province’s key construction sites, factories, workshops and agricultural production areas. The steady flow of economic activity reflects strong determination to overcome difficulties and create new momentum for growth, painting a brighter picture of development.

In 2025, the final year of the 2021–2025 socio-economic development plan and a year marked by a heavy workload following administrative mergers and the operation of the two-tier local government model, the province maintained stable economic growth. An estimated 19 out of 25 key targets were met or exceeded, while GRDP growth reached about 8.01 percent, meeting the target assigned by the Government.

The spirit of “accelerating and breaking through” was clearly reflected in both governance and production and business activities. Industry and construction gradually recovered, with several new projects coming into operation and expanding production capacity. Agriculture ensured seasonal schedules, proactively responded to natural disasters and epidemics, and continued to serve as a pillar of the economy. Trade, services and tourism remained vibrant and emerged as growth highlights, with an estimated 3.9 million tourist arrivals and total tourism revenue of VND 10,523 billion in 2025.

In late December 2025, the Vietnam - China International Trade Fair played an important role in promoting economic growth and expanding development opportunities for local businesses. Trade promotion activities and the promotion of agricultural products, OCOP items and rural industrial goods helped strengthen market linkages, expand consumption channels and attract new partners.

At the same time, the province stepped up efforts to accelerate public investment disbursement. Major transport infrastructure projects, including the Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh Road section from Chu Marker to Trung Son junction, were closely supervised to ensure progress, creating spillover effects for socio-economic development. Notably, the technical opening of the Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang Expressway on December 19, 2025 marked a significant milestone in infrastructure development, strengthening regional connectivity, attracting investment and promoting tourism and trade.

Entering 2026, the first year of the 2026 - 2030 socio-economic development plan, the province has set a growth target of over 10 percent. Key priorities include finalizing planning adjustments, mobilizing investment resources effectively, accelerating administrative reform and digital transformation, and strengthening discipline and accountability within the public sector. The achievements of 2025 are seen as a solid foundation, fostering confidence and momentum for faster and more sustainable development in the years ahead.
