Tuyen Quang currently has more than 319,000 cows and buffaloes, with annual buffalo and cattle meat output (live weight) reaching nearly 10,000 tonnes. Cattle meat products from Tuyen Quang are consumed both inside and outside the province. Notably, the “Ha Giang beef” product has been granted a geographical indication. In addition, the geographical indication dossier for “Chiem Hoa buffalo meat” has been fully completed.
In recent years, the province has gradually supported farmers in improving livestock breeds by introducing high-yield and high-quality crossbred cattle, applying technical advancements, and developing fattened cattle farming models along value chains.
To date, the province has established five yellow cattle farming linkage chains across 16 communes.
The province has also focused on developing cattle farming in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. Circular economic models in cattle and buffalo farming have been implemented, utilizing agricultural residues and waste treatment with biofertilizers to reduce environmental pollution and lower production costs for farmers.
According to Trinh Van Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the sector will continue to advise on improving mechanisms and farmer support policies related to breeds, feed and credit, while promoting linkages with businesses and cooperatives to boost cattle product consumption.
With the right orientation, strong support from local authorities, and farmers’ proactive innovation, cattle farming in Tuyen Quang has gradually moved toward a more professional and effective development path.
