Ocimum gratissimum essential oil of Son Thinh Agri-Forestry Cooperative

Ocimum gratissimum has been cultivated in Dong Thinh hamlet, Son Duong commune, since 2000. Building on this foundation, the Son Thinh Agri-Forestry Cooperative has expanded its herbal cultivation model to eight hectares, focusing on the production of ocimum gratissimum essential oil, which has created stable jobs for local people.

Ocimum gratissimum essential oil has multiple uses, including as a hair growth tonic, cold remedy, and natural antiseptic.

After harvest, the plants are distilled to produce about 400 liters of essential oil annually.

The cooperative’s ocimum gratissimum essential oil is supplied to pharmaceutical companies and essential oil businesses both inside and outside the province.

In 2020, ocimum gratissimum essential oil of the cooperative was granted a barcode and traceability label; and was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product.
