In 2022, several households in Xuan Giang, after researching the characteristics of grapefruits and realizing their suitability to the local climate and soil, boldly invested in planting this fruit on low-yield rice fields with two varieties of Milk grapes and Ha Den grapes.
To ensure proper care, growers actively learned cultivation techniques, installed irrigation systems, etc. They use organic fertilizers to take care of the grapefruits.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Hoang Thi In’s family from Kieu hamlet, growing a 700 m² garden of grapefruits, shared that: “At first, my family planted 15 vines as a trial. Then, realizing the high productivity and economic efficiency, we decided to expand the grapefruit area. Now, we earn over VND30 million each crop from the cultivation of this plant”.
To encourage further crop conversion, Xuan Giang commune has created favourable conditions for farmers to learn about grape cultivation and care. These activities help farmers explore new directions for economic development.
According to Do Dien Hieu, Chairman of the Xuan Giang People’s Committee, grapefruits in the commune have brought high economic value compared to rice and maize. In the coming time, the commune will cooperate with agencies to survey and plan grape-growing regions, and encourage people to apply digital transformation in farming to promote the Xuan Gian grape brand.
