With the advantage of a shared border with China and a network of international and bilateral border gates, Tuyen Quang province is actively promoting cooperation to tap into the potential of border trade, driving economic growth, poverty reduction, and improving the livelihoods of local people in border areas.

Xin Man, a border commune, is among the localities leading in agricultural exports. In the first half of 2025, the commune coordinated with enterprises to export 72 tons of salted radish to the Japanese market, equivalent to over 260 tons of fresh radish. This is the second shipment of salted radish exported this year through Do Long Border Gate in Ma Quan District, Yunnan Province (China).

In Pho Bang commune, although official import-export activities have yet to begin, border trade remains active. Local authorities are proposing the upgrade of the Pho Bang – Dong Can border gate pair to a bilateral gate to facilitate trade, attract investment, develop services, and create jobs for local people.

In terms of administration, the Provincial Economic Zone Authority has closely coordinated with relevant functional forces to ensure border security and orderly customs management. Regular information exchange and periodic meetings with Chinese counterparts are maintained to promptly address emerging issues at the border gates.

As a result, in the first six months of 2025, total import-export turnover through Thanh Thuy International Border Gate reached over USD 261 million, up 171% compared to the same period last year. State budget revenue from this gate amounted to over VND 117 billion, an increase of 109%. Xin Man Border Gate recorded a turnover of USD 91,792, with no tax generated, but infrastructure service fees brought in over VND 5 billion.

With flexible policies such as simplifying customs procedures, improving transportation infrastructure, and promoting economic cooperation and investment, Tuyen Quang is steadily opening up its border trade economy, creating a sustainable development engine for its border regions.
