Located at an altitude of more than 1,200 meters above sea level, Hong Thai enjoys a cool climate year-round. However, its most enchanting period falls between late February and mid-March, when pear blossoms bloom in full glory. Hillsides, home gardens, and winding village roads through hamlets such as Khau Trang, Na Kiem, Pac Khoang, and Na Mu are blanketed in pure white blossoms, creating a romantic and serene landscape.
According to the People’s Committee of Hong Thai Commune, the locality currently has 106 hectares of pear trees, with Hong Thai pears having been certified as a three-star OCOP product since 2020. In recent years, the commune has identified tourism as a key economic sector, developing it year-round. Spring tourism, highlighted by the annual Pear Blossom Festival, has become a distinctive and attractive tourism product, highly appreciated by visitors.
The 2026 Hong Thai Pear Blossom Festival is scheduled to take place from February 28 to March 10. This year’s festival will feature an expanded scale following the merger of Hong Thai, Da Vi, and Son Phu communes. Cultural, sports, and trade activities, along with OCOP product displays, will be more diverse, contributing to the promotion of local specialties and the preservation of traditional cultural values of ethnic minority communities.

A highlight of the festival will be the opening night at Khau Trang Hamlet, featuring the artistic program “Spring Colors of Hong Thai – 2026.” The event will combine pear blossom scenery with lighting, music, and unique performances, including the traditional fire-jumping dance of the local Dao ethnic group. The festival will also offer a wide range of experiential activities, such as visits to ancient pear orchards, the longest pear blossom road, the Khau Trang community-based cultural tourism village, highland cuisine festivals, OCOP product exhibitions, traditional costume shows, embroidery, and beeswax painting contests.
Alongside festival preparations, local people and homestay operators are actively upgrading accommodation facilities, improving environmental sanitation, and preparing local cuisine to welcome visitors. With thorough and careful preparations, the Hong Thai Pear Blossom Festival is expected to become a major tourism highlight, marking the opening of Tuyen Quang’s spring festival tourism season.
