The prestigious accolade from the World Travel Award (WTA) is not only a recognition of geological value but also a tribute to the multi-layered and profound cultural heritage of Tuyen Quang’s ancestral land.

Within the framework of the 2025 World Travel Awards ceremony, one of the most prestigious recognition systems in the global tourism industry, the UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau triumphed in the esteemed category of “World’s Leading Cultural Destination 2025”.

This marks the first time Tuyen Quang has had a destination honored in a world-class cultural award category.

The UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau was recognized by UNESCO in 2010 and holds exceptional geological, geomorphological, and cultural values. Covering more than 2,356 square kilometers, the geopark preserves nearly 140 notable heritage sites featuring a unique rocky mountain ecosystem, cat-ear-shaped limestone ranges, deep ravines, and towering cliffs. It also serves as a “living museum” of identity, architecture, and indigenous knowledge of local ethnic communities.

The title of “World’s Leading Cultural Destination” is a source of great pride and a driving force for Tuyen Quang to continue investing in heritage preservation and sustainable tourism development, turning culture into an invaluable asset and improving the livelihoods of residents on the Karst Plateau.
